Diagnostic Tests

X-Ray

An X-ray is a noninvasive diagnostic procedure that uses an external energy source to construct images of the body and its organs.  It is one of the oldest and most widely used diagnostic imaging procedures.  X-rays help your physician determine whether bones are broken and joints dislocated.  They are also useful in monitoring certain medical conditions such as arthritis.

During the procedure, you will be asked to remove all jewelry or clothing that may interfere with the images.  A gown will be provided if necessary.  Our technologist will position your body for the exam.  A lead blanket may be placed on you to shield other body parts from the x-rays.  You will be asked to remain still to prevent blurs in the images.
