Ultrasound
Ultrasound, or sonagraphy, is a painless noninvasive procedure that creates images by exposing the body to high-frequency sound waves. Ultrasounds show the structure and the movement of the body’s internal organs as well as blood flow.
During the procedure, you will be asked to uncover the body part that is to be examined. The technologist will apply a gel to your skin to enhance the sound imaging waves. A hand-held device is placed on your skin and the image will appear on a monitor. This test lasts approximately 45-60 minutes.
