Diagnostic Tests
Echocardiogram
ClearView Imaging is one of three regional centers to attain certification by ICAEL (Intersocietial Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Labs).
An echocardiogram is a special ultrasound used to examine the heart chambers, valves and vessels as well as the blood flow through each. It is used in the initial evaluation of a patient with suspected cardiac disease. An echo can also detect prior and current heart attacks as well as disturbances in the heart’s rhythm. This test lasts 45-60 minutes and no special preparation is needed.
During the procedure, the technologist places sticky electrodes with wires onto your chest (for the EKG). As the ultrasound is performed, the technologist will dim the lights to better view images on the monitor. You will hear a pulsing “whoosh” sound which is representing blood flow.
Your results will be read by a certified cardiologist.
